  • One thing I had forgotten to mention is that, sometimes when I start to listen to this piece, I actually have to turn it off.

This work is sooo damn powerful . . . sooo utterly moving . . . it touches the core of who I am and the feeling to be alive . . . that, if I'm not in the right place to accept this and to be moved, it is just too overwhelming.

To me, that is the gift of a great artist . . . sometimes it can almost be too much.

I don't know if this makes any sense . . . so be it

  • how does a composer create something that is so abstract in one sense yet concrete as in the reality of the feelings we have in building something....

    renewal...

life has meaning after all, thats what this music does to our despondency... especially in the dreaded way of life humans now present...

  • Once in a while, a piece of music comes along that can touch your very soul. This is one of them. Thank you Maurice. We miss you.

  • Does anyone else think this song has a Thanksgiving feel to it?

  • This song is very inspiring. While I couldn't build a barn, I did the next best thing, I erected a large tent in my pants.

  • Even after 27 years, this music makes me shiver with emotion. It's one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard

  • This is one outstanding piece. It SOOOO fit the scene it was used for in the movie. Very much like a Copland work. It evoked the simple pleasures of life in rural America. Working in union with the land, depending on God for goodness to come from land, air and water to sustain a simple lifestyle and rich faith in Him. This is the essence of the Amish heritage. They are to be greatly admired. Thank you Murice, for such a BEAUTIFUL work. You are greatly missed. Peace to you...forever.

  • This Composition was used as the theme song to a video Tribute to Pelle Lindbergh, after his tragic death in November, 1985. I remember being a young boy, a huge hockey fan, watching a Flyers game soon after the accident. I beleive it was on the cable channel Prism, and it gave Pelle's video tribute a majestic presence I have never forgotten. For me, it is an incredible piece of music with deep meaning. Thanks for the gift!

  • i didnt know maurice jarre passed away???? godammit!!! i will watch witness in honor of him!!

  • Yes, this has the power to move the spirit to tears. Nostalgic perhaps? who cares, I LOVE IT!

  • Great piece, good as anything by Beethoven. Buts thats the beauty of movies, they keep classical music alive.
