The thing is, the man has a right to his opinion, which isn't going to change the facts. None of us are saying that the political "lock and load" type of aggressive speech from the right was the EXCLUSIVE cause for the shooting (it might not have had anything to do with it at all), but we think that now is a good time to promote a little more care and civilized attitude in public discourse. We found the aggressive speech distasteful in the first place, in and of itself.

So let's get this strait---Loughner had been going around acting like an utterly deranged violent head case for years, numerous people made numerous complaints about him, he was thrown out of college precisely because the people around him were deeply afraid of him, he had already threatened to kill someone, he set up a human skull alter in his backyard and somehow talk shows are to blame? Instead of political grand standing, why didn't Commissar Dupnik do his job?
