When he was younger he had no friends, right? Well, some people create imaginary friends and those friends sometimes become alternate personalities. Eddie was an imaginary friend who eventually became strong enough to overshadow Nelson's personality. That is why he was able to read Nelson's mind and summon those people from the past.

I actually really like this ep. It's practially inspiring. The Nelson character was a wuss that got dicked around, and then the strong, brash Eddie side takes over and is kicking ass and taking names. Besides, I think Eddie's funny (if a bit overbearing at times). It's like they say, nice guys finish last. Anyone who gets jerked around by the people in their lives should watch this

I understood this episode perfectly and it was pretty obvious and predictable and not all that great, but not bad... I don't see why ppl are confused, or explaining this obvious episode, nor praising it. It was ok...
