    But he seems to be dying of battle wounds? In the original he just pulls a Wagner and dies of a broken heart...

  • This Opera's world premiere was sung by Justino Díaz and Leontine Price. The occasion was the first ever opening night (inauguration) of the then new Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center in New York back in 1966.
