  • the water in crysis looks better when you just look at it, but the way halo 3's water responds to stuff is more realistic

  • your mom looks a lot more realistic

  • @EliteMon1995 Scripted stuff is gross, IMO.

Can make most games feel boring to me.

The only thing is, there's like no games with non-scripted water, too many particles.

I cannot wait until our CPUs advance enough for real-time :)

I'm guessing 15 years at this rate.

  • @imalwayswatchingu00 Of course its scripted...If this was real time the Xbox would have to wait 2 minutes just to render 1 frame.

Scripting the water to break and spike when an object is near it or in its flow path produces an effect similar to real time rendering, with less than 1/100th the resources used

  • it's just as scripted as everything else.

    Terrible, no real time rendering.

Tells me there's too many kids online, who are Halo Die-hards, want me to think this is good water physics.

    Fucking terrible.

  • no splash? or water wave when the care drives?

  • no splash? or water wave?

  • Crysis had Excellent water Physics, When the water swelled you would sink and when it retreated you would come back to the top.

It would also push and pull objects in the water.

However, Halo 3 has Superior physics because the water itself reacts to other objects in the water, They aren't Shaders at all, Its mass physics and tessellation on the surface of the water reacting to objects touching it.

Wheras in Crysis, Effects and Shaders were prevalent over Physics when an object met water.

  • @vodkacannon problem with crysis was the terrible riples and stuff, it was just a white 2d image that floated on the surface... they wernt 3d at all.

  • It's a damned shame effects in games seem to be only for idiots to justify owning a videogame over another.these days. Personally, I don't care if another game has better looking water. If the water has very little interactivity beyond it splashing when jumped in... then it is just like any other fancy hi def looking game with a high poly count. I've come to realise that no matter how nice a game looks now, unless I can interact with the environment in a new way... screw it.

  • Crysis is way older but the waves were actualy 3 Dimensional and when the water met land anywhere is automaticaly formed a realistic white foam. Plus when you go underwater the rays coming through from the sun are incredible. Don't get me wrong they did acheive a lot back in 2006. You wont see games with those kind of effects in a while..
