Who should I tell, Oh Mother! The state in which I am ,due to the pain of parting smoke of my mentor puffs within my ¨self¨ whenever I let it out, it seems my Beloved. I eat grief as bread, panics as gravy and burn cries and sorrows in place of wood to cook it. now, who should I tell, Oh Mother! I am wandering in woods and forests in His search I couldn´t find my Beloved out yet. Says Hussain,(the poet),the forlorn beggar, I shall be satisfied and happy only if I find HIM! --- great klam by Shah Hussain

Lyrics

Maye ni mein kinnu aakhañ, dard wichhoray da haal ni...

Dukhañ di roti, soolañ da salan,
Aaheñ da balan baal ni

Maye ni mein kinnu aakhañ, dard wichhoray da haal ni...

Jangal bele phirañ dhoondendi,
Ajje na payoñ laal ni

Maye ni mein kinnu aakhañ, dard wichhoray da haal ni...

Dhuwañ dukhe mere murshad wala,
Jaañ pholañ taañ laal ni

Maye ni mein kinnu aakhañ, dard wichhoray da haal ni...

Kahe Hussain faqeer sayiñ da
Shoh mile taañ thewañ nihaal ni

Maye ni mein kinnu aakhañ, dard wichhoray da haal ni...

English Translation

O mother O mother, who do I tell, this pain of separation

Bread of sadness, sauce of spikes,
Make a fire of laments

O mother O mother, who do I tell, this pain of separation

Wandered jungles and deserts,
But not found the ruby

O mother O mother, who do I tell, this pain of separation

My Master's fire smolders,
If I poke, its red hot

O mother O mother, who do I tell, this pain of separation

Says Hussain the poor faqeer,
Meeting God would be ecstasy

Mai Nee Mein kinnu Aakhan
========================
About Poet:

Shah Hussain was born in 1538 and died in 1599 in Lahore (currently the capital of Punjab province of Pakistan). His tomb is near the Shalimar Gardens of Lahore. Shalimar Gardens were built in 1641-1642 by Shah Jahan the Mughal Emperor who also built Taj Mahal in Agra, India. Shah Hussains death anniversary or Urs is celebrated in Lahore as Mela-e Charaaghaan or the Festival of Lamps. Charaagh is a small oil based lamp made of clay. It is one of the major annual celebrations in Pakistani Punjab when charaaghs are lit in the Shalimar Gardens. Shah Hussain is considered to be one of the pioneers of kafi writing. Kafis are poems, mostly in Punjabi, Saraiki, and Sindhi which are based on Sufi themes. Shah Hussains kafis are short poems in which each single line is a unit and contains a refrain (radeef) and/or rhyme (qafia).
