When we scientifically advanced in astronomy, medicine, and physics we replaced the old and outdated concepts of our mythic past with new and more accurate terminology which reflected our new found understanding our our body and the universe at large.
The glitch, though, is that we have changed our thinking about almost everything EXCEPT ourselves.....We might come to find that there really is no soul.....

I think this has something to do with the aliens, right? We are all part of a large ant farm?

What is the 3rd text that he states? After the bible and the koran?

Well, that also goes for everything really. David Hume noted that nothing can be really understood as a cause of something, it all amounts to inductive logic (past events cannot 100% predict future events). An account for the brain is not lacking at all, however we do not fullly understand it yet.

This is an interesting solution to the mind-body problem but not one I subscribe to. Firstly, there is no way to scientifically propose a way that brains "give rise to consciousness"; we can only note the correlation between the two and speculate. Secondly, a material mechanism to account for the bran itself is lacking (Francis Crick himself postulating that extraterrestrial life seeded earth with life). And thirdly, I think attempts to rescue this view from depressing nihilism fail.
