Stargate Atlantis - Final Moments of Lieutenant Ford

I hated that the producers decided to kill off Lt. Ford. Why wasn't he allowed to grow as a professional Marine in the way that Cpt Samantha Carter in SG-1 was able to grow to become a full-bird Colonel?
SG-Atlantis would've been more popular had the story writers stuck to the military orientation that SG-1 had created, rather than this wacky, "Star-trek" style.
*sigh* Whatever the case, Semper Fidelis Lt. Aiden Ford, Semper Fidelis. You fought the good fight, & now it's time to rest. :(

Coming from a military background I can identify with Lt. Ford. His character was never given the opportunity to grow in any way, shape, or form.
In our microwave, instantaneous, short-term, flash & no substance culture we westerners seem to forget that that it is the interesting slice-of-life character driven stories that matter.
SG-1 had that aspect very well, but Stargate Atlantis killed that from the start with its flash & splash weirdness & that's why it ended after just 5 seasons.

@DeltaForceSFODD The Airforce made Richard Dean Anderson an "honorary Brigadier General"...

shudnt of made ford get taken out of the team he is amazing especially the way he fights fliping around and shiz sheppard still thinks hes alive and tbh me too noway could he of died like that in the hive ship
-
Well yes, but it's 47% effective I think, and I don't know if they ever gave it to him.

I know this is 5 months ago, but I feel like I should mention it anyways. They were putting the gene into people who didn't have them.

I agree 100%. I believe SG1 was given honors or something like that from the U.S.A.F. for it's portrayal of the military. Atlantis did not pull me in as much as SG1 did.

Then again, this is sci-fi, so seriously people take it easy on details
-
well he could've got the gene before the wraith came

So did I. What a drag that Sci-fi wasn't more willing hold on to the show. I just don't get cable/satellite TV these days. Isn't the whole point behind paying monthly for TV is so that there less of a ratings pressure for unique shows?
Now it seems as if Cable TV is trying to be more like primetime, getting into that ratings game. Such a drag...
really sucks that they killed ford off early as a character... the way they left his fate open and hanging during season 2 and never revisited the character/story was rather dissapointing.
