so you cut out each individual bear as well then right?
And you must have used a program to place the bear over the rest of the animtaion? Which program?

yup, each frame of movement is a paper cutout laid on the background.

how did you get the multiple layers of motion over the background?

The bear was shot by itself and matted over the rest of the footage. Everything else was done with cutout paper characters laid physically on the background.
