On http://www.artreview.com -- Only the first 200 people in line at Damien Hirst's White Cube Mason's Yard opening would get to see For the Love of God -- the most expensive artwork ever produced. It's a skull encrusted with 8,601 diamonds. A syndicate of collectors recently met the asking price of $100 million. The skull will now tour museums, after which, Hirst recently said, it will be sold again, for even more.
The "consortium of collectors" was a pre-arranged bid-up of investors who included Hirst himself.
