Tatiana Gutsu performs her optional balance beam routine during team finals at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Her fall on the mount originally took her out of contention for the all-around finals because her total score did not put her in the top 3 on the "Unified Team" (of the former Soviet Union).

  • can't believe she still qualified to the finals, what a stupid loop hole the russians pulled on Roza Galieva.

  • I wish everyone would give Gutsu a break. Despite many thinking that the Soviets cheated, Tatiana certainly didn't have her hand in it...give her a break she was only 15 years old! Back to gymnastics, I still admire how she went on with this routine and did an incredible job despite the initial fall from a very difficult skill. She truly had all the goods to win and I agree with many that she had tremendous amount of difficulty on all 4 events and if she hit, then she was unbeatable.

  • @pappysprite I completely agree, very well said!

  • @luv4cookie1 I totally agree. This beam routine was so ahead of its time and I was so impressed that she was near perfect after the fall where most gymnasts would have crumbled.

  • If she would have hit that mount like she is capable of I would have honestly given her a ten.

  • @ :30. oh dont worry, she'll advance. the soviets will just make roza galieva fake a knee injury and ruin her AA dreams. poor girl. i'd be pissed. can you imagine making the all round finals and then having your coach tell you, "Oh, by the way, you can't go. From now on you're "injured". "

  • If she had not fallen, she would have advanced to the EF by kicking out Tatiana Lysenko.

  • this routine was amazinggggg sooo much difficulty!! why did she have to fall off? She would of really challenged for the gold medal and kicked lu li out of the silver medal position
