Here is a high speed video (slow motion) that shows what happens inside the SawStop when the brake cartridge activates during a hot dog demo.

  • The saw carries an electric current. When a conductor (like the human body, or a hot dog) touches the saw, it changes the resistance. A circuit within the saw monitors the current, and even a tiny change triggers the brake.

  • has saved four people in my company and paid for it's self awesome saw for the price

  • @King007Bond The blade has a sensor that detects electrical conductivity. A piece of wood is not very conductive, so the saw goes right through it. A salty, wet finger is conductive.

  • what happens if there is a little moister in the wood you are cutting?

  • Sawstop macduff is impressed, macduff's innovative technology (OJJ) the other alternate

mated to older table saws has retro-fitted that technology to be as save as it can ever be,

it will not wreck the blade or stop the saws operational function.

All macduff's automatic anti-kick back devices are placed up front over-head of the blade, on a

stationary fence, (a macduff first) attaches to a bracket with a suspended rod from the stationary fence

which will never deviate from the parallel.

  • This portable light weight technology cuts sheet material to 4ft. on center requiring no large

permanently mounted side or out-feed extension tables

World wide there are hundreds of thousands of table saws with the old dangerous technology out there. Sawstop at

this time cannot retro-fit these saws. Buy new not necessarily, retro-fit available yes (plans)but don't be

complacent and keep your wits about ye, slainte mhath macduff

  • it certainly looked like it.

  • I JUST CAME!!!

  • They have this saw in my son's shop class in highschool. He just showed me this video. I am impressed. If they had this type of technolgy when my grandfather was younger, he may not have lost his finger in an accident at work.

  • why does he know when its a piece wood and when its a finger???

  • No, it is like saying, people who could walk or take a bike/train should not be OWNING cars. Big diffy.

  • Thats like saying people who need seatbelts shouldnt be driving cars
