In the Saddle — Kyle Hunt

CHICKASHA -- Now halfway through the season, the Drover men are on track to attend the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament for the first time in a few years.

"I feel like the season is going great so far. We are off to a great run," said Kyle Hunt, a 6-foot-10 senior. "We really put ourselves in a good predicament right now. I feel like the sky's the limit for us."

Leading the team in scoring and rebounding, Hunt made an impression on the 2011-12 team immediately.

"I try to just do it all. Whatever my teammates need me to do. Rebound the ball. Be a leader. Be more vocal on practice," he said. "My teammates respect me and they appreciate what I have to say, so I try to be a leader."

Hunt found USAO in a round-about way. Originally from Queens, N.Y., Hunt transferred to the university from Middle Tennessee State, off a suggestion by an assistant coach.

"He said this would be a good spot for me, a great opportunity for me to get my degree and be able to have a great impact on a team as well," Hunt said. "It's a good experience, and it's always good to experience different things."

Hunt plans to graduate in April and hopes to pursue a career in criminal justice.
