This is the first time astronomers have created a three—dimensional map of dark matter distribution in the Universe. An international team of scientists, among them groups from Marseille, the Max-Planck Institutes, Caltech, Cal State LA and, Paris have used data from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope COSMOS survey in their simulation. The results were published in nature online on January 8th 2007, and at a meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Seattle Washington. This Video discussed the 3D Dark Matter mapping project based on the COSMOS data. An English man was used to do the voice over because the Brits sound nice but the people from LA are way cooler and contributed significantly more to the project ( last comment is solely my responsibility)!
"Future improvements may lead to insights into what dark matter actually is." Yes, that would certainly be a start!
