#3 in my series this month of artists and people that I have met in my life is, Dottie West:
I have been very fortunate in my life to have met Dottie West twice.
The 1st was in 1976 at the Orange County Fair in Orlando, Florida. She was performing in a covered tent two spots next to where I was involved in another activity for the county fair. She sang a song called, "Paper Mansions", that encaptivated me!!! I met her, and her daughter, Shelly. They were the only two people who ever signed my Freshman High School Year Book!!!
Oddly enough I ran into Dottie again, by chance, in 1983 or 1984 in Houston, Texas when I was working at the 'Bennigan's' restaurant in the Galleria. She was with a woman that evening, and it was obvious that it was solely business. I did ask her one question. And, she was surprised that I knew who her daughter Shelly was.
Dottie died on September 4, 1991 in a fatal car accident.
She is sorely missed, and is greatly underappreaciated in the country music industry, even today!!!

I love Dottie West, it's a shame she has not been recognized by her profession no more than she has. I had the great opportunity to meet Dottie only once in 11/89, got to speak with her quite a bit-she was a very, very nice lady-will tell you more about it if you'd like.I should describe my meeting with Dottie on one of my songs I have posted for Dottie, didn't think about it until now, thanks for sharing!
