youtuber mrfellowship asks about David Wilkerson 1,000 fires & other stuff part 2

David Wilkerson...

1. NO MORE GOSPEL ON TV BY 1999?
He preached this in the Solomon Church in December of 1994:
"Right now I sense in my spirit that in less than 5 years there will be no more so-called gospel television networks. They will all fall into bankruptcy and absolute ruin." (Solomon Church Dec. 12, 1994)

*No mention of "thus saith the Lord" or "God said to tell you...". Rather its just a 'sense in his spirit' so is this really a prophesy? or just what he thinks might happen. Fact is pastors need to be careful in what they say & how it comes across.

2. 1000 FIRES IN NEW YORK CITY DUE TO RACE RIOTS IN 1993?

From a prophecy of September 7, 1992:
"I have had recurring visions of over 1,000 fires burning at one time here in New York city. I am convinced race riots will soon explode! New York City is right now a powder keg-ready to blow!...federal and State Welfare cutbacks will be the spark that ignites the fuse. Next year, New York City could have over 100,000 angry men on the streets, enraged because they have been cut off from benefits....Federal troops will have to move in to restore order. New York City will have tanks running down its avenues....Churches will be closed for a season because it will be too dangerous to travel about. Fires will rage everywhere." (Sept. 7, 1992)

Although Wilkerson set the expiration date of " Next year" (i.e. 1993) he says that this is yet future. Was this 'thus saith the Lord'? No, just visions. Personally I would be careful about saying this is a prophecy, but more of a 'if the U.S. continues borrowing & not paying back what it owes, we might see this.

3. FINANCIAL CRASH IN 2000?

On April 15 of that year, Wilkerson prophesied this:
"For the last two years I have been crying aloud, warning all who would hear that America is receiving her last call and that judgment is at the door. I did not say this was the end of the nation, but the last call before a financial crash."

"I am writing this letter to you on Saturday, April 15, 2000. I have on my desk the headlines in yesterday's paper: "BLACK FRIDAY - BIGGEST ONE-DAY DROP IN HISTORY." The Dow fell 618 points - the Nasdaq fell 355. I do not know what is coming in the next sixty days. If the market bounces back, I can assure you it will be temporary. THE CRASH IS INEVITABLE - NOTHING CAN STOP IT."

To his credit, he admitted his mistake after the non-event, after the market instead of crashing, reached record highs on May 22 of that year:

DW later said "In prayer, I have told the Lord I am ready at any time to confess I am wrong - that I must have spoken from my own fears or that I have spoken unadvisedly. Recently, when the market reached record highs, I wondered if those calling me a false prophet were right."

So are these prophesies or just what DW thinks might or could happen? I dont see 'thus saith the Lord'. Again I would careful about taking any 'sense in the spirit' or 'visions', etc as gospel truth. Instead stay in God and His word and the truth will set you free.

  • at the end of the day, dave wilkerson has obeyed the lord and has touched many lives: you meanwhile sir are on youtube with 426 views

  • @blackukstay So when scripture states when someone states "thus saith the Lord" & events do not happen thats okay? According to scripture its a false prophesy.

Now I really enjoy DW's books & teachings but we must NEVER let our admiration for a person overlook what scripture commands us to do. Your saying its ok to go against God's word in this instance (false prophesy) & his other good works negates the sin/s?

wow thats very interesting & has nothing to do with the # of views anyone has.

  • He also says this is my view and what you do with it is up to you- we have to take responsibility for our testing- Wilkerson is a man of God- to date one of the most passionate and humble men before God. He says its his thoughts not prophecy

  • The one thing I noticed with mrfellowship was that he said it was DW prophesies, however when we look at his words we see its just a sense or what he thinks might happen.

Again we need to be careful and if its something we think vs what God tells us, we need to make that clear to listeners so no mistakes are made.

DW has some very scriptural messages, but as scripture says 'test everything' and 'hold firm in the faith'.

    :)

  • Hey brother...question...given your eye for false prophets, please investigate Dr Owuor from Soth Africa and please let me know what you think....thanx man.

  • Hello. I am very sad. I found out that DW has been killed in an auto accident. :( I've been looking on YT for any clips about him and I came across this one too. Despite any mistakes on his part I believe he was a sincere man of God. He is now with Jesus. :) However, I and so many others who have been blessed by his ministry are sad and will miss him. You are right though about testing everything with the Word of God. Chew the grapes. Spit out the seeds.

  • wilkerson has never claimed to be a prophet, but a watchman... What he has been saying is coming to pass... world events suggest that we are on track to the coming of the Lord

at the end of the day, Wilkerson preaches sound doctrine. (not saying you said he was) he is not a false prophet, God forbid. He has been faithful to the voice of God for years and continues to be untill this day. the man preaches truth where truth is scarcely preached

  • What would happen if the US ended Welfare? I asked this question on google and youtube your video was on the top of the list on YT....

I think charities and church would be the main ones to help the poor.

BTW I'm an Atheist. I doubt there will ever be another prophet if there is PLEASE NO CHEAP PARLOR TRICKS. Penn and Teller can catch bullets with their teeth of course it's an illusion....

I think the prophets of our time are Houdini, James Randi, and Stephen Hawkings....

    Love, Light, Peace

  • This is a great video series. I don't know who posted this, if your a Pastor, but you should do more. Helped clarify some things for me. I know when the Lord is speaking to me, but sometimes if I'm emotional or scared, it's difficult to tell. You explained the state of the heart clearly and not to follow that even though the "unction" can be really strong.

  • Sure you did a good statement. ALL the glory to GOD. Even a prophet if he's a true one is because he received that gift from God and is speaking from God. The prophecy is a consequence, not the cause. So when you see someone putting the focus in an event and not calling for repentance and to God surely it's a false prophet speaking from satan.

If a true prophet does an alert to God's people. They will know that this prophet is from God as true christians can hear God.

  • @mrfellowship

so if he did that he's a false prophet. i always knew that he was one. and those who are in the tv calling themselves prophets

dates doesn't matter. in Isaiah God tell us that a prophecy can take time to happen even if was said that it would be taking place soon.

    or a date gave.

but if something happens and the speech of the so called prophet doesn't come to pass he's a false one.

  • It could happen, but regardless of whether it does or not, we need to seek God, hide His word in our hearts and follow Him. Then we need to be obedient, give as we see need, preach the gospel, etc.

Ultimately we want our faith solid in Christ and not dependent on an event that may or may not happen.

    :)
