Thanks to advances in medicine and technology, people are living longer than ever before. But with boon of more time, is the question of how to handle the high costs of long term care. Many of our seniors end up in nursing homes, which is often a big bill for states to foot. But the small state of Rhode Island may have found an innovative way to save money while providing better care with better results. They're paying loved ones -- like family members -- to stay at home and take care of the elderly. Hannah Yi reports from Providence.

This alternative for nursing homes isn't the be all end all solution but it does provide for a loved one to be the soul care provider & it has agencies check up on you to ensure tax prayer dollars are being used correctly & that she is well cared for! Beautiful story. I am not religious but for what its worth, God bless her soul. She makes me think of my mother who thankfully is doing well but we all get old & will face this one day.

PBS has a wonderful higher pedigree of programming. Unfortunately, people don't tune in to it and when it comes to fundraising for their network, they are horrible at it.

PBS aka the spam channel. That we the people pay for. I wasn't a Romney fan but i think he hit the nail on the head when he said to get rid of it.
