March 24, 2011 -- The Dayton Fire Department dedicated its newest firefighting equipment. The dedication marks the beginning of Fire Department service for the 100-ft. aerial platform fire engine, a 515-horsepower Detroit Diesel Series 60 with a pumping capacity of 2,000 gallons per minute. The 40-ton, 47-ft.-long vehicle was acquired for $798,000, using primarily federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant funds.
