The best place to stand is on Hungerford Bridge (the cable bridge to the west of the London Eye). You are still close to the London Eye on there and it doesn't get busy on there until about 20 minutes till new year (people search for nice places and the bridge is usually the last place they look)

hi i am going to london for this new year 09 , it seems really busy out there , do i have to be near the london eye very early to get a good place and what time? or can i just get there around 10 pm ? if someone whant to help ill apreciate it thanks.
