Aww - I had read a great deal about his playing at this point in time, including how Wanda refused to be at his side then. This is the first time I have listened to it. Maybe the greatest comeback of his life was recovering from this period, regaining his integrity, and giving us those wonderful final last years.

@bersa888: parlavo di fragilità appunto per questo, perché era sotto medicazioni, completamente in crisi. Vecchio, vero, ma nell'85 aveva 2 anni di più e seppe fare cose meravigliose a Parigi...

Questa serie di video è terribile, e straordinaria allo stesso tempo. Racconta il dramma di un gigante alle prese con le fragilità di ogni uomo. Guardare Horowitz in queste condizioni ci ricorda che questi grandi interpreti sono stati uomini prima di tutto. Grande è quello che ci hanno regalato perché frutto dell'umano sforzo, della fatica, della tenacia, del lavoro quotidiano, della ricerca continua. Una grande lezione di umanità.

Wandatchka was right. He had lost his sense of objectivity
or he never would have allowed himself to be seen in this
light. Thank goodness he recovered and gave us so many memorable treasures in his final few years.
