Chopin's 17th Prelude of 24, Opus 28. Piano: Walter Klien
Sorry about the creepiness herein, but Fryderyk Chopin died at 39 years and seems to have been aware that his time was relatively limited. He wasn't happy most of the time it appears, and I feel he probably wrote this pining prelude in one of his most melancholic of states. This prelude, to me, is the saddest of all Chopin works, and, conversely, the most beautiful.
