I'm really annoyed they are not doing the sea songs this year, that was one of the best parts.

They NEED to bring this back! I'm looking to go next year, and will be bitterly dissapointed if they don't do this!! I'm taking my friend who has never seen the Proms.

Who let Boris Johnson conduct?
-
@chrisfourfalcon - More often then not the audience ends up falling off the beat!
-
@MaNgO7983 your mom on my meat-flute
-
@Feldkahl It's a competition between the crowd and the musicians to see who can go fastest. It's traditional, so happens nearly every last night of the Proms

I miss the sea shanties.

Can we have the sea shanties back please :)

Sorry, I've never heard of this show, but I have a question. Did the musicians adapt to the accelerating clapping of the audience, or was it the other way round?

The audience tries to make the music get faster, but it's the conductor who is in control of the orchestra.

I thought that this year Henry Wood's Purcell suite made an interesting change from his sea song arrangements.

This is part of the Fantasia on British Sea Songs arranged by Sir Henry Wood. The tune, called Jack's the Lad, but usually known as the Sailor's Hornpipe, is traditional I think.
