  • when our forefathers wrote the bill of rights, they had no idea we'd be so driven by pride and power and control that we would use our "arms" to manipulate, rob, hurt, and kill our fellow countrymen. They were for protection from the British. that was the motive. we have lost our rights by misusing it.

  • No, we have lost our rights by letting Bush misuse them.

  • One interesting thing that has been happening is the ability to manufacture ammunition that is traceable to the point of sale. It doesn't help in the case of crimes of passion or accidents, but it does make it harder to commit premeditated crime. The crimes of passion are the ones I think would be reduced by licensing weapons.

How do you feel about legalization or at least decriminalization of drugs?

  • John, your ideals would be neat but it doesn't seem realisitic- without impeding on our liberties. Remember, criminals inparticular, can get guns regardless of the laws. Again, I respect your opinion but it doesnt seem realistic.

  • The important question is how much firepower do you need and how easily can that firepower be used to wipe out innocent people. I am not completely opposed to allowing more powerful guns to people who have a safe history behind them. I think requiring a license it completely appropriate as long as there are clear unambiguous rules.

  • Repealing the tiahrt amendment has a 1984 big brother theme to it... Making a gun childproof (humanproof )has already been done with the required trigger locks. Federal assault weapon ban is ridiculous, a gun is a gun, same outcome... that's taking a bite out of the 2nd amendment.

"That gun looks evil, so it should be banned"

I take it old war guns, like the m1-carbine and ect will be the next banned guns.

    Dear government, leave me alone.

  • at obama website you will see ther are no plans for making the gun age 21. Obama will let you keep ur gun Take the time to read his policies for yourself. he want 2 repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information He supports closing the gun show loopholes & make guns childproof. He supports the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

  • Can't say I agree with him on all issues. I have a handgun which is a pretty impressive accomlishment when compared with other countries. I do think there are some standards that should be met mostly in terms of safety guidelines and mental stability.

  • I do think people should be able to defend themselves, hunt, go to the shooting range with friends/family, and let the police carry guns even on off duty. Obama is against these things.

  • I think citizens should be able to defend themselves so I am very much in favor of the second amendment. I own a .45 ACP. I do think people should get safety training as a prerequisite.
