mine does that when its cold then goes away when it warms up

And what causes lifter collapse but excessive preload and cheap oil. Amsoil is designed for 4000 psi. load. Unfortunately, Castrol, Pennzoil, Mobil, etc. aren't. Excessive preload damages the internal lifter plunger clearance, and the valves that are open during the night bleed the lifters down. Pre-lubing the engine with a Pre-Luber prevents noise at startup. Mike the lifter to see that it is actually damaged.

stock motors now come with NOS

Hey man i got a question for you, when your lifter went did it cause the motor to run like crap? my 4.8 started doing this noise and all at once the engine is missing, surging, popping out the exhaust and pulling timing just making it a total dog.

yup mines collapsed on new years eve, & had the same noise when idle
@woolridgewilly. Yeah that would happin this noise was actually was a rocker bolt that backed out. But yes a collapsed lifter can make a cylinder not operate properly if the valve is not opening. If you have a CEL check codes so you can narrow down the cylinder then pull the valve cover and if there's nothing broken visible I'd say its a lifter. Hope that helps
