This song was only going to be released as the eleventh track on Ray Charles' 1962 "Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music" Lp album, but was rushed out as a single when other artists began imitating Ray's vocal. To fit it on a 45 rpm record, more than a minute had to be cut from album version of the song, which ran a lengthy 4:12. Most notably, they cut the part where Ray's vocal "Those happy hours..." is answered by the string section. I clock the single version at a brisk 2:32.
