You did a great job. The images not only lend poignancy to the poem, but allow the reader to draw visual images. I tried to link this to my lecture, but Youtube seems to be malfunctioning.

yes, the poet was prior military but not a turret gunner, he may have had friends or knew other service members who died as turret gunners.
