@CARSONART point is those classics aren't appreciated by all generations
whether people like it for its nice atmosphere, psychological suspense, element of shock, etc... the thing is considered a classic that 'held up' and does very well with every new release. It doesn't have to be 'scary' to everyone for it to be good.

@ardbastard1 I guess it could be called a 'Psychological/Theological Thriller'. A thinking person's scary movie. It's not just about melted guys in your dreams or a lunatic in a hockey mask. It asks you to think, WHY did this happen? That's a good thing.
