The Drifters, later to become The Shadows, play an up-beat version of "Be-Bop-A-Lula" in the Everly-style. I believe the screaming girls were added to give it a 'live' feel. From 1959.

  • i like the shads but they could have given the gene vincent (or everly brothers') version a cursory listen just to get the words right ("my baby love" indeed!)

  • @norristerse artistic licence...?!

  • From Cliff Richard's first LP, CLIFF, recorded live in front of just a few dozens of fans. The first LP I bought in my teens, along with CONWAY TWITTY'S GREATEST HITS!

  • @ENACODNOM Good choices!

  • hey we brits could always rock as well as anyone.

Besides werent these guys from Newcastle on tyne?

that makes them pretty local to me

Us Northerners have to stick together yaknow

  • @marcoftheshaw That could explain why my father's friend had them stay at her B&B in Sunderland before they were famous. She said they were "noisy".

  • Jet: Framus bass; Tony: Ajax drum kit. What are Hank & Bruce playing?

  • Lol i just came from Eddy Cochran and heard the exactly same screamin at the start

    /watch?v=ckfReOHJing&feature=related

  • There were 200 invited fans during the recording of this album recorded on januari 9th and tenth of 1959

  • esta version es de CLIFF RICHARD acompañado de los SHADOWS,la version de los shadows es otra.

  • Interesting curiosity number.... Hank - minus twang - sounds pretty good before he got his Strat and was for ever fiddling with whammy bar.... I believe the guitar he has here is an old Antoria - probably made by Ibanez and probably worth a fortune now.

  • @SirBasildeBrush

    yeah, fair enough!

  • la version de los shadows es otra ,esta es la version de cliff con los shadows

  • Hi Super super,pozdrawiam Roman:):) (Poland) :):):):)
