Really nice job! This is the first riff I ever learned on the electric guitar! (OK, save perhaps a Velvet Underground line or two) I remember when I nailed it, I felt on top of the world!
good i'm glad we understand eachother. i see so much pointless arguing on these sites, that i just don't want to be a part of.after all music is about cooperation, not compitition.jerry said that, not me.but it always struck a chord with me.
No, no - I didn't really take it as a knock - all we're doing here is getting on the same page :-) - the funny thing about the written word online is it takes a day or 2 to hash out a discussion like this where if we were face to face it'd take about 5 minutes!
hey i appreciate what you do and you do it well,i agree it's tricky regardless of how you aproach it. it took me awhile to get it fluid,i'm not trying to say i'm better or know more than anyone else.i'd say the oppisit, i cheat all i can.i like to make it easy as possible.i was in noway trying to down what you do, you been a help to me .
You talked about "THE magical postition" and that this was still "way too hard".... maybe it is for YOU...so play it how it is most comfortable for YOU. This came off as if there was a "magical" position you are privy to. If you meant each person has their own "magical" positon you weren't very clear.
And frankly, as dead riffs go, this ain't exactly easy no matter where you play it - until you get a decent amount of practice in!
"way too hard" is relative. My references in the vid were based on a discussion about how many notes are in bob's standard line and getting back to the beginning of the line - for signature riffs such as this most deadhead musicians are interested in getting it RIGHT! Most find it helpful to see where THE guy (bob or jer) played something and then going from there. There's plenty of room in just about every other part of the song for stetching out.
@billbbill i do what works best for me.you know there's many many ways to play a piece in many positions.and what Bob finds comfortable is good for Bob,and regardless if it's his piece of not it don't make the way i play it wrong.i wasn't trying to say anything negitive about your thing it sounds great. my point is to say guitar playing to me is a very individual thing.i tell my students take what i show u and learn it asmany ways as they can.if what i showed you is best fine.do what works for u

No offense bud but watch a few vids, see where bob plays it, and get back to me.
