Radio Android: The Android Show Ep 32 Part 1

Every now and then we like to expand upon the activist in Android Activist and reach out to others in need beyond the Android ecosystem. On last night's The Android Show, broadcast on http://www.radioandroid.net, our viewers were able to raise an astonishing $1,700 for Autism awareness.
The show started off with an interview with Rob Gorski author of heart touching blog http://lostandtired.com. Rob is a married father with three boys. All of whom have been diagnosed with Autism. If that was not enough of a cross to bare, Rob revealed that his wife suffers from Fibromyalgia as well. Rob shared one touching story involving a stranger he met on a cold and snowy night who was using his bare hands to remove snow from the windshields of people's vehicles in a grocery store parking lot. The stranger, as it would later turn out, had Autism. A person fearing for their life and not understanding what this man was doing and his disorder tried to run him over with their car. When Rob spoke to him, he realized he was looking at his son twenty or thirty years from now who has been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. The stranger showed all of the classic signs. He only wanted something to eat, gloves and a ride to a shelter. His intentions were completely misunderstood.
Autism is a spectrum disorder with no cure and no singularly understood cause. The CDC claims Autism is present in 1 out of 110 births. Boys are four times as likely to have the disorder than girls. Due to the wide range and uniqueness of how the disorder effect each individual different there is still a lot to learn about Autism.
It was our humbling pleasure to talk to Rob. His story made a lot of us feel insignificant when we thought about what a bad is for us. We are all sincerely grateful for the Android community to come together and raise $1700 for this worthy cause.
