This is the last video in the series on how to build your own inexpensive harmonica mics. In this vid I play through 5 mics I made myself, including the mic I made in the other vids in this series. I'm playing thru a pignose 7-100 (legendary) 5 watt solid state amp, with the one and only knob (volume) set at 3/4 of the way up.

  • Does the mag light mic need a pot?

  • Hi there... No, it does not NEED a pot. In fact, no mic NEEDS a pot. A pot is only added if you want a volume control on the mic itself--it's purely an extra feature. If you end up making a maglite mic, you'll see that there is really no room to put any kind of pot. You could use an inline volume control jack if you wanted though...

  • Great info! Thanks!

  • Nice! I also made it myself, used a bycycle Head light, and a telephone element (Old telephone with ''round dial thing'') Works and looks nice =)

  • which pots do you recommend for high z and which for low z elements? i made mine out of a phone handset ear speaker and run it through my guitar amp for lo-fi vocals. the mouthpiece mic from the same phone handset seems to be a low z element (really weak through the guitar amp unless i hold the cable tip, if that makes any sense). So ya, heheh, which pot would you recommend for each application?

    Thanks!

  • I like it I want to make a make but it looks hard to make
