It's shtick. The only agenda either one of them has is getting laughs. And Craig loves it when someone like Maher comes on his show and messes with him. Self-deprecation is part of Craig's shtick. Loved the body language when Craig attempted his 'defense' of religion. Two very different comedians, but both very funny, in my view.
