Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI07) had three chances to do the right thing and help low-income children. He never did, and he never explained why.

  • Public education is mediocre at best, and you want to hand over more power to the feds for head start? Funny how every time Im accused of being anti-children or anti-whatever, its usually because Ive opposed some new govt program.

  • I believe that this issue is important in ensuring Head Start continues to have success. -end quote (please read responses from bottom to top)

  • The legislation did not contain an extremely important provision that protects faith-based organizations (FBO).

The Head Start bill that passed would not allow a FBO to receive a federal Head Start grant without surrendering its constitutionally-protected right to take faith into account in its hiring practices. Faith-based organizations with Head Start programs should not be forced to hire individuals who do not share their beliefs.

  • Here is Tim Walberg's response from his weekly wrap-up newsletter- While I support the Head Start program because it increases school readiness by improving cognitive abilities, decreases the readiness gap between Head Start children and their peers and ensures children have the skills necessary to take advantage of future educational opportunities, I recently had to vote against final passage of a Head Start bill.

  • Please disregard the tone of the last message. Although the content remains the same it was intended for another vid.

  • So anytime someone posts a response you don't care for, you delete it? Here is the fact, and I will spam it if necessary: TIM WALBERG voted against the measure because it did not allow Head Start- as a faith-based organization- to receive federal funds unless it followed practices which would require them by law to hire anyone. Head Start is entitled to hire those it feels share its beliefs and goals, and had language been included in the measure to protect this right, Tim would have voted yes.
