Why do you think Xel'lotath is so fascinated with heads? :)) I mean, why all of her minions are headless (except maybe the zombies) and she, herself, is headless too?

Because her domain is the mind, and by extension, the head. Chatty rules the body, I suppose. Uly, maybe the soul or something.

Not to be mean, but how can anybody find this scene funny? I was like "um...shit" when this happened. Paul may not have been the greatest character in the game, but he still had some importance. Not to mention he was a rather tragic character and I like tragic characters. Definaly a rather chilling end.

Like I said, it is more akin to black humor. What's funny is the thwarted expectation of a battle with the Guardian coming about so abruptly.

Probably one of the most, if not the most, haunting moments I have ever played in any game...

I loved Paul - he was sane, he wouldn't subdue to the sanity effects and he was strong.... for him just to die like that in a moment was painful, and sad.

It really wanted me to carry on playing and beat the bastards!

This has made me want to reply ED all over again, I still have the disk!

And the initial whispers and cutscene is fantastic!!

I think by the time Peter came around, the Black Guardian was bored and wanted a challenge. Remember how one of Pious' minions say that it's growing restless?

So when Peter gets there, it seals off the exit and entertains itself by tormenting him with it's minions.

On it's final stage, it just keeps trying to stomp Peter. Naturally the Black Guardian underestimated Peter and was simply trying to crush him like they did to Paul.

Overconfidence breeds carelessness.
