As part of their orientation to Dartmouth, members of the Class of 2013, were assigned a summer reading project. The subject of the assignment: Tracy Kidder's "Mountains Beyond Mountains," which chronicled the work of now-Dartmouth President Jim Yong Kim, Dr. Paul Farmer, and Ophelia Dahl, the founders of Partners in Health and their work for global health. Kim, Farmer, and Dahl held a panel discussion with the '13s on September 16, 2009 as the culmination of their summer reading project.
