This is a return of my HP DV2 using the viewguard antiglare. For starters, I still must apologize for the sub par video quality. I'm still using my Canon A640, which is just a photo camera. It just happens to have a video feature that, I'll be honest, is pretty crappy. But this isn't content that really requires a +500 camera to shoot, so I'm not buying one.

This is a single 1.6 GHz athlon, and an ATI Radeon 3410. All these games were being played on Windows 7. Games that use Directx 10/10.1 tend to work a lot better in DX10 mode.

Now to the goodies. This is the first of 2 planned gaming vids for the HP DV2. I had to separate them because I was going to be roughly 15 minutes long, and youtube has a 10 minute limit. No biggie. This first video is the new Bionic Commando and World of Warcraft. I do not play World of Warcraft. I know someone who does, thats how I managed to make a video. I put it in, because whether I play it or not, I know many people who look at laptops do. Fact of life.

If you have a game you play that I didn't post, and you want to see it in action, message me. There is a high chance that I own it, and if I don't, there is an even higher chance that one of my friends does. I know that how well a machine plays your favorite game can be a deciding factor in purchasing said machine. So don't be shy, let me know if there are other games you want tested.

The camera left a very interesting semicircle shadow in the screen. It's cause it's a crappy camera for video. If it becomes a concern, I will post pictures of the screen, because those come out fine.

  • Yeah, pretty much everything pre 2007 run well. Yes only one ram slot, but most of them come with 4 GB. I'm not sure what the max capacity is. I have thought about an SSD upgrade, but I don't have the spare cash.

  • Can you run Team fortress 2 on it?

Also how hot does it get?

Try using HWmonitor and GPU tool while playing in the background so can get a hum about temps. Plus kindly tell me what the sound level is when fans goes on.

    Thanks in advance !

  • @Turkrb4u Give me a little time to get some temp readings. I want to say that in linux it never really breaks 60 degrees C on the GPU, and that is with 3d desktop stuff. The fan isn't too loud unless you are sitting somewhere very quiet like a classroom. I actually have a power mode that sets the fan to passive. Let me also look into running TF2 on it. Would you like a video of that?

  • Oh, yeah those are two huge fans I have in my windows to keep my room cool. The fan on the DV2 is pretty much silent. I use this machine in class, and even when all is quiet, you can barely hear the fan if it's kicking at 100%. For some reason my a640 really picked that noise up. The Sony I used in the call of duty movie did a better job of not picking that noise up.

  • I have a request its an mmorpg I would really like to see you play silkroad online on this laptop becuz im buying one very soon itd be much appreciated thks ; )

  • @jjwoznia

This Laptop is capable of running any new game if you configure it properly.

Like Just Cause 2, Crysis, GTA IV, etc.

If you really think I'm joking, check out my video of a Just Cause 2 benchmark.

  • I wonder how well a 4GB of Sandisk Extreme III SDHC for ReadyBoost would do on this system. I'd imagine the read/writes on the flash would keep the HDD nice and cool, along with faster access.

  • This is impressive, I'm buying one soon. You're video confirms for me that any pre-2007 games work flawlessly on this hybrid beast. Out of curiosity, is it true this mode only has one memory slot? Also what is the maximum memory the motherboard can handle? Have you thought of doing a SSD upgrade?

    Thank you for the upload!

  • Looks like spiderman , mountaineering edition

  • Gaming on this looks quite impressive! Screen is not so great. Light leakage coming from the bottom.
