This is the Passacaglia from Genso Suikoden. Game by Konami, music composed by Miki Higashino. It's not my arrangement, and the arranger/transcriber is not credited in the sheets. I also don't remember where I got the sheets from, I've had them for a while now. This transcription is very accurate except for one part where you would obviously need to use the pedalboard of the organ to play everything.

I usually don't like to use other sounds than the original piano, but this piece was originally written for organ and since I have that sound on my digital piano, I thought I'd give it a try. It's interesting to play like this, because using the sustain pedal with the organ produces a weird sound and it's really a challenge not to use it. I was surprised - It was a lot harder to play this piece than I had thought. It seems that just because you can play piano doesn't mean you can just sit down at an organ and play as if it's the same instrument.

It is sure remarkable to find a piece of this caliber in a game soundtrack. Suikoden is truly underrated, especially in the music department.

  • @n1bigdaddy ah yes, that's it! thanks for finding it and for sharing ;)

  • Such a pitty you don´t can send me a link to the sheet....what a great song...btw. what d-piano are you using ? i want to buy me one but i am not sure which one i should get :(

  • @Gsus665 Hello, I might need to double-check about sheets, I could perhaps find them again, but I'm not sure. As for the piano, this is the Kawai CA-9 which is an outdated model. The current line would be the CA-93, but I can't recommend it because it has some firmware issues which result in sound problems (cracking sounds, sync issues etc.).

  • @Verdegrand oh thank you :)

If you find them i would be very glad :)

I bought me one for now..two weaks ago...a Roland FP7 ...i like it :) Doesn´t look very piano like, but it has great keys and a warm sound...finally i could practise at home again *happy happy*

  • @Gsus665 Hello, yeah I heard good things about Roland digitals. They are definitely a good choice. Oh and check n1bigdaddy's comment, he found the sheets :)
