What a conscientious contractor does is to make sure it is done right.
From this video, it is obvious that this post was never UNDER THAT BEAM SUPPORTING IT, so only luck and a couple lags were doing more than they were capable of for years.

Not to be a jerk but this is why you never just put new decking on old supports! Always rebuild from scratch!
