LOL all we needed was 5 friends and some shovels, no fancy gear or measuring tools, just us, our bikes and a few shovels

dude, when the tree roots gets damaged the quilty of the timber in the tree gets worse. That means landowner makes less money, and that means the landowner is less likely to allow hikers, cycklers or any other persons on his land.
