@emildon1 I don't think Arguello's jab causes Chavez many problems. I actually think it's pretty overrated. Not very quick and paws with it too much. I also don't think a prime Chavez trades that much, he was very good defensively.
If Arguello wins, it's because of his superior stamina and toughness. Chavez' key to victory would be to back Arguello up. Chavez was very accurate and Arguello could be tagged.
very intriguing argument ,alexis and chavez what a dream bout ,its so even but over 15 rounds alexis was king ,chavez was great in a 12 round era ,they would definitely have to fight 2 or 3 times to get the truth, but as a human being alexis was way better ,chavez was a terrible loser and by all accounts not a very nice guy ,but its one that you just cant call , there styles would have made for a total war, probably not a better dream match up out there
If I have to point out who the above fighters were than you know less than you claim. With all things being relative and opinions being like bellybuttons (We all have one) I believe that Arguello's superior jab, reach, and resolve coupled with Chavez's willingness to trade would play right into Arguello's style of fighting. Both suffered the bulk of their losses at the tail end of their careers but Arguello's decline was not as pronounced and sudden. He left for good because of his health.
Once more there's Olivares, Esacalera, Chacon, Limon, Edwards, Castillo, Mancini, Ganigan, Marcel, Noel, Costello, Watt, Ramirez, Navarette, Kobayashi, Hernandez, Riasco, and Pryor. He beat all but 2 of them and they were not bums. Chavez's overall record is superior but its also littered with a lot of no names from south of the border especially early in his career. Both fighters were dominant in their primes and in their divisions. I just believe that AA would beat JCC in their primes.
then why Chavez has the record of defeat more ex, or current champions for make his defenses in the 140 lbs...ONLY IN THE 140 LBS...12 champions in totall!!!
and counting his fights on the 130 and 135 lbs...damn, arguello is way behind...
but yet, again, tell me...
WHO THE FUCK WERE THOSE NOBODYS WHO DEFEAT ARGUELLO ON HIS PRIME??
u r bitching cuz Chavez had problems against LOCKDRIGE AND LAPORTE, both top fighters..
Uh! I don't know what you've been smoking but, pass it over here because it must be some awesome shit! Are u going to actually have the audacity to say that Arguello's opponents were nobodies? Hmmm, lets see there's Olivares, Esacalera, Chacon, Limon, Edwards, Castillo, Mancini, Ganigan, Marcel, Noel, Costello, Watt, Ramirez, Navarette, Kobayashi, Hernandez, Riasco, and Pryor. All except 1 were champions and he defeated all but 2 of them. Looks as impressive if not more so than JCC
@emildon1 the problem here?? CHAVEZ HAS AN IRON CHIN, GREAT STAMINA, HES THE BEST BODY PUNCHER EVER, THE BEST INFIGHTER EVER, and he has an EXCELLENT DEFENSE...
It would be a copy of the ROSARIO VS CHAVEZ FIGHT, or the PRYOR VS ARGUELLO FIGHT...
TKO IN LATE...the only diference, CHAVEZ dont need ilegal substance for sustain the presure
@emildon1 of course, Chavez struggles vs Laporte and Lockdrige...BUT HE DEFEAT THEM...AND ARGUELLO?? O YES, DEFEATED BY NOBODYS!!! some were even class C!!
randall scholl him?? so?? CHAVEZ WAS WAY PAST HIS PRIME!!
And r u shittin me?? hahaha
Arguello?? he only has his rect, NOTHING MORE, even against an old and shot olivares, WHO IS THE ONLY NAME ON HIS RECORD, he was having a lot of problems, and only his punch gave him the victory, cuz he was being OUT BOXED, and badly..
