I always thought the Chicks' video for "You Were Mine" would be great for their song "Let Him Fly" as well. I modified it a little, but the sentiment works...

"Let Him Fly" was written by Patty Griffin. The Chicks recorded it on their "Fly" album.

  • After losing my husband of 28 yrs, I thought I'd found my "2nd love". But, sadly I was wrong. After 2 yrs & 2 days....I'M GONNA LET HIM FLY~~

You can't build a life with someone who LIES~ Sad for him. Even his friends will turn from him, when they realize he lies continually to them. Liars are dangerous people to be around. . . but more than that; they are just sad sad insecure people.

  • I miss the Dixie Chicks. They were the best. And, when they were dissapointed in Bush, I was too! Why do politics ruin everything?

  • "But you must always know how long to stay....and when to go."

"It took a while to understand the beauty of just letting go...."

There is power in the truth of these words. I've always loved their music, and this song in particular. I play it when I need to be reminded that closing doors isn't always negative, and that letting go is necessary sometimes in order to liberate your heart from pain. Sing on ladies...sing on.

  • Dear Ex,

Liars dont get far...which is why I was always 3 steps forward...but sadly i was in love and ignored it. Im the bigger person; I let you choose. Now, when you come back (which you will).....the woman you knew who forgave you and cried seeing you coming back will be long gone; infact I dont know her myself anymore...

  • The chicks def brought out the country in this song

  • Patty!! Great version!

  • I'm trying to recall where I heard this first. Patty Griffin. This is a super version.

  • @AbsentWithoutLeaving RIght, like that's what you were talking about. Adios, absent.

  • @Therealmensa Okay, menso, somebody (I guess it had better be you) better get busy notifying every symphony orchestra, every choral group, every opera singer, every string quartet, every singer who ever got famous singing Broadway show tunes, every virtuoso performer that ever lived, performed, and recorded, that their careers are based on larceny. Let us all know when you're done.

Okay, this dead horse ain't goin' nowhere - I'm out.

  • @AbsentWithoutLeaving That isn't a FACT anymore than you could name even ONE A-list group that made it on the backs of cover tunes. You live in a made up world that is full of non-facts you believe are true. Let me help you; go to a legitimate top 100 site, search everyone there and see if they arrived without original material in abundance. You can't, but I don't expect you to go out of your way and actually find REAL facts. You are disconnected from the real world. Shallow, and pitiful.

  • @Therealmensa Hey, mensa-mensa - I wasn't speaking to you. Go sit in your corner and behave yourself.

  • @Therealmensa Behind all the hate-babble, I notice that you still didn't address the fact that 'covers' (ie. performers performing work they did not themselves write or score) drive the music business. Doh.
