  • this is the name of this documentary.. I rented it from the Library.. very good indeed , God Was with these Men and thanks for Posting this .. Excellent.. The Endurance - Shackleton's Legendary Expedition (2000)

  • @alaskanmal63 Thanks for info, still not available I believe.

  • Is this the Nova documentary? Someone just told me about that one. I found this instead on this site and if it's not the Nova documentary can you tell me which one it is. I would like to buy this one.

  • I don't know, in the UK this was shown on a commercial channel(4). The Nova documentary from its description on Amazon is 120 minutes long so it doesn't quite match this one, I note it's discontinued as well. There is another one "The Endurance,DVD 2001" which sounds similar but is narrated by Liam Neeson, it is also shorter than the one i,ve posted. This one as far as I know is not available, if it was I wouldn't post it.

  • @FACTUNTHJU

I take it you're not the adventurous type...

  • I don't know why I'm so fascinted with this story, probably because the odds against these men returning safely were high--no way could it have been done. But yet they managed to do it. Imagine being stuck down in Antarctica during WW 1--no radio, no communication, etc., and no one knows where you are and you have to get yourselves out of the situation. Simply amazing and inspiring. Reminds me of the stories "Apollo 13," and "127 Hours." Loved the book and the movie with Kenneth Branaugh.

  • @FACTUNTHJU You know as well as we do they didn't plan it that way. It was the hardest part of the trip for those who carried it out.

  • Anyone who reads the books and stories of the Heroic Antarctic Explorers do know exactly who Tom Crean is. He is given enormous credit by Shackleton in his own book about his own expeditions... Every true Antarctic fan does care about Tom Crean and knows him for the legend that he is... All of them amazing men... And Chippy McNeish too, amazing...

  • Nearly 70 dogs killed for some spoilt arseheads to go fucking about wrecking ships and neglecting family values..i would call it mindless stupidity ,

  • Histories three greatest returns from the brink (in no particular order)

1.Captain Bligh's open boat voyage after the Bounty mutiny

    2.Shackleton

    3. Apollo 13

    Others?

  • well guess what nobody cares about tom crean who was the longest time to stay on antartica he was indestructebel he walked 10 miles to help his friends with no food and barly survived!!!!!
