@fcu1 These dogs were trained to do that, jump. They have had hours and hours of training to physically capable to do so without harming themselves. Also, when the "bad guy" is up in a tree, he'd have the time to shoot the dog if it stayed on the ground, that's why the dogs jump up to get them, just like police dogs in training bite the decoy on top of cars/fences etc. They need to be prepared to any situations.
