What happens when you die? Not to your soul, but to your body. Everyone has been to a funeral, but how did the dear departed get there and where does she go? I produced, directed, and wrote this one-hour documentary that aired on PBS stations around 1993. The spine of the show is following a person through the process from the time she is picked up by the funeral directors, to embalming, to getting her prepared for the funeral, the funeral, and the burial. Along the way we hear from funeral directors, historians, and experts on death and dying from around the country.

she looked like that because they put too much embalming fluid in, and "puffed" her up- they did the sam thing to my gramma- was strange to see her looking so young.

VERY GOOD !!!!! lololololol I didnt see them drain blood or fill her up either - hahaha

  • Why'd they have to have such an old guy presenting this video. I don't think it would have done him good.

  • AHA Tissue filler.

No WONDER my grandmother looked like a doll in the casket after she died. I had no clue they used that!

  • being senile aint sh@T.

  • being a garbage man suCKS....

  • They didn't even show the half of the process but it was informative to someone with no knowledge on the subject.

IM JUST SAYING, SHOW THE PROCESS...... I KNOW they had permission to show the remains- but the BLACK AND WHITE ? that adds a morbid touch.. But he said "We dont do this for any goolish factor, we do this because this is a person, and it should be treated like a person, otherwise..... There is no purpose in doing any of this"... WEL, I LIKE TO SEE PEOPLE IN COLOR, LIKE I DO, WHEN I SEE WITH MY EYES..... NOT BLACK AND WHITE.. IF I WANTED TO WATCH HE MUNSTERS, I WUD put in the DVD

  • I'm not in the funeral trade, just watched this out of curiosity...well done and very informative. It's quite comforting to know that the deceased are treated with the high respect, professionalism and dignity that was shown by the people in this video. To the previous commentor, I'm sure the family was asked for permission for this to be shown...

  • u know WHAT? u may as well show the embalming process in color- ur fucking STUPID- if ur thinking respect is the factor, THINK AGAIN, YOU'VE ALREADY SHOWED HER FACE AND A FAMILY PICTURE OF HER AT A WEDDING- ATLEAST PUT IT IN COLOR U FUKN WORM
