Fair point about the outcome of Paul and John, but they have played their part in the amazing contribution the band has made to British/European music and culture. I'll stick to my view on Norfolk Coast though. Would have been fun if Dave Vanian had turned up to sing guest vocal on a version at the convention!
@ I think the stranglers would have done quite well without him, songs written for him were sung well by him, it was just his poncing about that annoyed people, trying to make Hugh's songs 'his-own'. Pre-roberts era and they sound so tight, Hugh was part of that special sound. They are doing well with Baz and you can see Baz respects the solo's Hugh laid down and plays them note perfect. JJ said that 'Ellis & Roberts were trying to change The Stranglers and had to be stopped.'..
Agree with the view that Paul Roberts sang this really well. Critics should rember that Paul helped keep the band together after Hugh left. Without that, we may never have had Relentless, Norfolk Coast or Freedom is Insane!
just noticed a bit of synchronised funky moves with baz and jj, very impressive!! always thought john should have been a ballet dancer, the sweet man is so light on his feet and has wonderful elevation!!!
great song and never really thought paul was right for the band, however john does no justice to this at all, completely out of his range. this is pauls song!
I think Baz should have sung this - his voice is deeper like Paul Roberts was before he left the band.

A classic track, but this is not right for JJ. Dave singing would be better. Come on lads. Give it a try in 2012.
