Sorry, Mitt Romney: Keystone XL is not the U.S. "miracle energy" keystone. However, until we show fossil fuel companies that we're ready for something new, pipelines like Keystone XL are going to keep coming back like an ex-boyfriend who won't get the hint.

Now is the time to end our unhealthy relationship with dirty energy, and the first step in this breakup is cutting them off.

Help us end subsidies to fossil fuel companies and keep Tar Sands oil in the ground. Find out more: http://postcarbon.org/breakup

For clarity: We've never received a penny from the energy industry, nor would we accept it (unlike the folks at "Ethical" Oil). As for the small amount of money spent on this video, understand that, as a nonprofit, we often find production companies willing to comp their efforts. Actors and voice talent as well. Thanks to the concern and largess of the creative community, our videos cost us very, very little.

This is well done and straight to the point. Of course, industry squawks will start name calling and throwing out senseless 'we always done it this way and there are no alternatives' drivel. OOps, sorry, they already have.

razilian officials have put riverbank communities on alert as oil spilled from a broken pipeline upstream in Ecuador flows toward the country's Amazon Basin.

A May 31 landslide ruptured the pipeline in the Andean foothills near the Reventador Volcano, dumping some 11,000 barrels worth — 420,000 gallons — of crude oil into the Coca River, which in turn flows into the Napo River, a major tributary of the Amazon.

Texas-based Apache Corporation, the oil company responsible for the spill, just released their estimate of its size on Wednesday. According to their figures, 9.5 million litres of 'produced water' was released into the environment, covering the equivalent of over 50 football fields-worth of land.

A toxic waste spill in northern Alberta has killed off roughly 42 hectares of boreal forest, in what could be the biggest environmental disaster in North America in recent history.

The spill was first discovered on June 1st, about 100 kms south of the border with the Northwest Territories, near the small town of Zama City.

This latest spill should call into question the provincial government’s decision to hide the pipeline safety report they received last year and the failure to follow through on the public pipeline safety review the Minister of Energy promised last July.

This pipeline safety report, commissioned in July 2012 to address public concerns about leaks, was apparently delivered in early May 2013, but the Alberta government has delayed release of the report. No date has been given for its release.

You are so stupid, we need oil more now than ever before. Until a real replacement is found, we must protect ourselves by producting our own supply to be free of the middle east. Oil is not just gasoline, it is just about everything you use today, from your cell phone, lap top and new floors in your home. It is clothing and so much more. To say stop using oil is nothing short of being the village idiot.

America is ridiculous, go ahead and let China buy it all from Canada then. Everyone wants an alternative to oil, but quit being so short sighted. Every single thing you do needs fossil fuels for the time being, and blocking Keystone XL is genuinely retarded.
