...& mainstream? This is far from a mainstream film. This showed at very few cinemas here. Mainstream is something like Michael Bay & that guy's movies are fuckin' retarded.
Even Machete got a wider release than this & that was just a pure exploitation film. Machete & Harry Brown were my 2 favourite films of last year, so as you can see there's nothing pretentious about my attitude towards film, just being 'honest'.
Pretentious? If anyone's pretentious it's Daniel Barber with his attitude towards genre films. Don't get me wrong, Harry Brown is one of the better films to come out in recent years & i really liked it. But what's so bad about admitting you like genre films & that they may have inspired you. "I want to distance myself from genre films because i want to be taken seriously as a director. My movies are far more intelligent than that, i'm an artist"... oh please, gimme a break.
@T800System Agreed. He kind of insinuates that those who find it funny do so because we would do that kind of thing our selves, which is completely not the case. It was just unexpected and pretty funny.
Just watched this film..l'm female and thought l would hate this film....NOOO just loved it. Michael Caine is absolutly amazing in this film.. l just fell in love with him, watching him, his character is so believable. Just one thing, l dont think the riot scene towards the end would have held up in the real world, the police would have had re-enforcements there to cope with it within 15 minutes... as my police son said whilst watching it. But well done Daniel a film to remember!!!!

"Intelligent mainstream cinema" LMAO.
Intelligent... & mainstream cinema, now there's 2 out of place terms.
Man what is this guy's problem with genre films anyway? Death Wish was technically a genre film & it's far superior to this.
