Dirt collector Ed Tripp shows us how he cares for the 514 seedlings he is growing as part of his study into soil fertility. More at http://www.test-tube.org.uk/
trimming roots and minimal watering is bad news. the water should be plentiful. the soil needs to be moist all the time. I water mine twice daily (morning night) and thrice on the weekends (midday) the roots almost mever need to be trimmed and can lead to loss of foliage in most cases the plant can die out right. the only time the roots should be trimmed (if at all) is if the specimen becomes root bound
speaking of bonsai's i had one which i seemingly kept in perfect condition as i watered it minimum twice a week and trimed the roots and gave it the right amout of sun and after a while it just withered and died. i dont no why it just died. got any tips?
right but more suited plants will be more dynamic and with a steady rate of light they will be come docile with there growth. i see it all the time with my Bonsai, they go onto like a stasis after like a few months, and appear to halt their growth all together. interestingly enough it's like they prepare for like a drought or something like they experience the 'right' weather and feel a drought coming so they reserve their resources. plants are an anomaly....
i'm assuming that its because he said that the plants will take in as much water as they need, so as long as he doesn't under or over water them they should be fine... but that's just a guess
So wouldn't the plants eventually use up all the Nitrogen (P and K) in the soil samples and die or does he only need it for the 6 months?...
