Veteran thespian and Shakespearean actor, Allen L. Moore, performs his impression of Friar Francis from William Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing', editing the bulk of the friar's dialog from Act IV - Scene I into a single monologue, beginning with "Hear me a little...".
The good friar's dialogue from this scene, due to complexity and length, is frequently heavily edited or all but 00omitted from both stage and cinematic versions of this classic Shakespeare comedy, despite the fact that it is an integral part of the plot and lays the groundwork for the outcome of the play.
Moore performed the Friar Francis character in the 2006 Avalon Players' production of 'Much Ado About Nothing' for the annual Shakespeare in Sonoma (CA) production. It was his fourth Shakespeare in Sonoma production.
His previous performances were all in Shakespeare's 'A Comedy Of Errors'. In 1984, he played Antipholus of Ephesis in the Sonoma Vintage Theatre production ; in 1990 he played Ageon (Antipolus' father) with Avalon Players; and in 2005 (25th Anniversary of Avalon's productions) he received critical acclaim portraying a 'gay' Angelo, the Goldsmith, directed by Kate Kennedy, despite being 'straight'.
