The U.S. Olympic Festival (USOF) was an important multi-sport developmental meet in which athletes competed against each other by region. It was held 14 times in different U.S. cities in the non Olympic Games years from 1978-1995.
The 1987 USOF racewalking events were held on the campus of Duke University in Durham, N.C. on July 25 and 26, 1987.
The 20Km walk featured one past (the aptly named Larry Walker) and five future Olympians Gary Morgan, Andy Kaestner, Curt Clausen, Herman Nelson and Allen James. Morgan and Kaestner were near the top of their game, while Clausen, Nelson and James were just beginning their Olympic journey. Other 1980's walkers featured include Ray Funkhouser and Paul Schwartzberg.
The P.A. announcer is Rob Montgomery and the videographer is Ole Holsti.
